The Forests Product Commission (FPC) has acquired more than 5,000 hectares of land in south-west Western Australia for its tree planting project with Synergy Energy, the ABC reported.
As part of the one year deal, the FPC will plant 10 million eucalypt trees across 36 south-west farms for carbon sequestration. The project is part of Synergy’s bid to secure carbon permits under the government’s proposed emissions trading scheme.
